1. Create an Account

You will be directed to the UCS Security - Self Serve Password Reset application from another UCS application. The SSPR application will allow you to create an account for the other UCS application. You will be asked to choose a password and set a challenge question. Also, most applications require the user to confirm the email address registered on their account.

  1. Password
Passwords must be a minimum of 10 characters in length and include at least 1 character from 3 of the following 4 categories: upper-case letters, lower-case letters, numbers and the special characters: (~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * _ - + = ` | \ ( ) { } [ ] : ; " ' < > , . ? / ). In addition, your password should not include your name or user id. NOTE: Next to the password input box, there is a strength indicator. This will display the word Invalid until the password you are entering is valid. Once your password is valid, it will then switch to either medium or strong to indicate how secure your password is.
  2. Challenge Question
Next you will be asked to choose and answer a challenge question. Choose a question from the drop down list and then provide the answer to that question. If you should forget your password, you can reset your password by answering the question you have chosen. This will allow you to continue to use your UCS application without having to contact us for help.
  3. UCS Account Email Address
The last step in creating your account is to verify your email address. Simply go to your email and locate the email from securityadministrationunit@nycourts.gov and click on the confirm link. This will ensure that we can deliver email to the address you have provided.

2. Maintain Account

  1. Forgot Password
If you have forgotten your password or your username you can click the link in your application and you will be redirected to the Self Service Password Reset process.

You may reset your password by using either your username or the email address you used when you created your account.

If you enter your username or you enter your email address and there is only one user account associated with the email address you will proceed to the Reset Password page. In step 1 the Challenge question we have on file for you will be displayed. Enter your answer to the question and if it matches you can go on and enter a new password and confirm it. Once that is done you will be returned to your application to login. An email confirming the change will be sent to your email address on file.

If you choose to reset by email address and there is more than one user account associated with the email address we will send an email with all the accounts listed with a link to click. Find the username you want to change and click the link. You will be directed to the Reset Password page. Enter a new password and confirm it. You will be returned to the application you came from and you can now log in.

Anytime you use the email option to try password reset, the link in the email is only valid for a period of time. If the time for the link has expired, just start the process again and a new link email will be sent.
  2. Change Challenge Question
At any time you can change the challenge question that you have selected. There will be a link somewhere within your application where you can choose to Maintain your account or specifically to change your challenge question. Click it and the Manage Account: Set Challenge Question page will display. Drop down the list of questions and select one. Then enter your answer click next and you will be returned to your application.
  3. Change Email Address
You can change your email address at any time. There will be a link usually in the footer of your application that will provide a link to the Manage Account: Set Email Addresses page. The UCS Account Email Address is the only way for us to communicate with you so it is important for you to keep it up to date.
